Our Parish.

Holy Archangels Orthodox Church began in 2002 to meet the needs of the Russian Orthodox faithful in the Phoenix metro who found themselves without a priest to administer to them or a parish to attend. Fr. John McCuen, who was then a Deacon serving in the Cathedral of San Francisco, was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Kirill and sent to the valley to establish a new parish for this purpose.

Initially, the parish celebrated the liturgy in the homes of the various congregants and in spaces rented from local churches. In 2003, the congregation was able to obtain the church property where the liturgy is celebrated today. Thanks to generous financial support, tireless volunteer efforts, the long-suffering patience of the parishioners—and of course with the all-pervasive and merciful Providence of God—the Church building was slowly re-furbished over the years to meet the spiritual needs of the parishioners and all Orthodox faithful who visit our doors. We continue to maintain and build upon the efforts of those who came before for the life of the parish and future generations.
